What is bond protection?

When you colour, bleach, or perm your hair, the chemicals break down internal bonds that give each strand its strength. That's what causes the dryness, brittleness, and breakage that come with repeated processing.

A bond protection treatment works alongside the chemical service to reconnect and stabilise those bonds as they're being broken — limiting the damage in real time rather than trying to repair it afterwards. Olaplex is the most well-known brand in this category, but the science is now used across several professional product lines. How the bond protection add-on works

The add-on is a two-step process that fits into your existing appointment.

1. Step 1 — During your service — Your stylist adds the bond protector directly into your colour, bleach, or perm formula. It works while the chemical processes, protecting your hair from the inside. This step adds zero extra time.
2. Step 2 — After your service — Once the colour or perm is rinsed out, your stylist applies a bond-perfecting treatment from roots to ends. This sits for about 10 minutes, then gets rinsed. It strengthens and seals the repair work from step 1.

Who should add bond protection?

Any client getting a chemical service can benefit, but it's especially worth it in these situations.

• Bleach or lightening services — Bleach is the most demanding chemical process for hair. If you've looked into Olaplex for bleached hair, bond protection works the same way — it keeps strands intact during lifting, especially when going multiple levels lighter. This is where it makes the biggest difference.
• Frequent colour clients — If you colour every 4–8 weeks, the cumulative damage adds up. Adding bond protection each visit prevents the gradual dryness and brittleness that comes with repeated processing.

Can you combine bond protection with a treatment?
