What makes a Korean men's cut different?
The biggest difference is scissors over clippers. Western barbershops create structure through hard fades and defined lines. Korean stylists create shape through layering, texturising, and natural fall — the sides are scissor-tapered for a softer, more gradual transition with no visible skin.
Korean cuts treat the fringe as a focal point, not an afterthought. Whether it's swept to one side, parted down the middle, or curled into a comma shape, the bangs are styled with intention and frame the face.
The other key difference is the full-service approach. Every Korean men's haircut at Miin includes a wash, cut, blow-dry, and styling. Your stylist finishes by showing you exactly how to style the cut at home — you leave looking like the finished result, not with wet hair and a vague idea.
Popular Korean men's hairstyles (model rambut pria Korea)
These are the Korean men's styles our stylists cut most (model rambut pria Korea). Bring a reference photo or describe what you're after — your stylist will recommend what works with your face shape and hair texture.

Two block cut
The signature Korean men's cut and the most-searched layered men's hairstyle in Jakarta. Short, scissor-tapered sides and back with longer textured hair on top — no hard fade line, the two "blocks" blend softly. You can style the top swept, parted, or forward.

Comma cut
Middle part with curtain bangs that curve inward at the tips like a comma. Popularised by K-pop idols. The curl can be achieved with blow-drying technique or a light fringe perm for all-day hold.

Middle part
Hair parted cleanly down the centre with soft curtain-style fringe falling on both sides — no comma curl, just a clean symmetrical drape. The most relaxed, low-maintenance Korean men's style. Suits most face shapes and softens harder jawlines.

Textured fringe
Choppy, piece-y bangs cut with point-cutting technique that fall forward across the forehead with intentional texture. The contemporary K-pop idol look — sharper and more editorial than the comma curl. Pairs naturally with a two-block base.

Korean wolf cut
Layered and intentionally shaggy with soft flow — the men's version of the wolf cut. Shorter crown layers transition into longer, wispy pieces at the back and sides. An expressive, editorial style for those who want more length and movement.
Korean salon vs barbershop
Both have their place. The choice depends on the style you want.
- Choose a barbershop if you want a skin fade, pompadour, crew cut, or buzz cut. Barbershops specialise in clipper-based structured cuts with hard lines and defined edges.
- Choose a Korean-focused salon if you want a two block cut, comma hair, textured fringe, or any layered style with a styled fringe. Korean salons specialise in scissor-based cuts with soft transitions, natural texture, and face-framing.
- The practical difference: barbershop cuts are maintained with clippers (precise guard lengths). Korean cuts are maintained with scissors and styling technique (layering, texturising, blow-drying direction).
What to expect during your appointment
A Korean men's haircut at Miin includes everything — no surprises.
- Consultation (5 min) — your stylist discusses the style you want, checks your face shape, hair thickness, and growth direction. Bring a reference photo if you have one.
- Shampoo — pre-cut wash with scalp massage.
- The cut (20–30 min) — scissor-based cutting and texturising. Your stylist builds the shape layer by layer, checking the fall and balance as they go.
- Blow-dry and styling — this is where the cut comes to life. Your stylist blow-dries with intention (root direction, volume placement) and applies product to show you the finished look.
- Styling tips — your stylist shows you how to recreate the style at home: which direction to blow-dry, how much product, what kind of product.
Pair your cut with a perm
Many of our male clients combine their haircut with a perm service for the complete Korean look. The cut shapes the foundation; the perm adds texture or control.
- Down perm — the most popular add-on. If your side hair is thick, stiff, or sticks out (rambut jigrak), a down perm flattens it chemically so it lies flat between cuts. Quick service, adds 30 minutes.
- Cold perm — adds softer, more natural waves. Good for a relaxed, textured look.
- Fringe perm — perms only the bangs into a comma or C-curl shape, leaving the rest untouched. Quick and low-commitment.
Maintenance and how often to cut
Korean men's cuts hold their shape for about 4–5 weeks before the layers lose definition and the sides start to feel heavy. Most of our male clients come in every 4–6 weeks for a trim.
If you have a down perm on the sides, you can stretch the gap slightly since the sides stay flat longer. Many clients refresh their down perm every other haircut — roughly every 8–10 weeks.
Between cuts, the most important thing is blow-drying direction. Your stylist will show you how to lift at the roots and direct the fringe. A lightweight wax or styling cream is usually all you need.
