What is Aquapunch?
Aquapunch — also known as an aquapuncture scalp treatment — is a scalp cleansing device that shoots fine, high-pressure water pulses directly into your scalp pores. Think of it like a pressure wash for your scalp: it loosens and flushes out trapped sebum, dead skin cells, product residue, and other buildup that sits deep in your follicles.
Over time, this buildup clogs pores and can lead to oiliness, flaking, odour, and even thinning. A regular shampoo cleans the surface, but it can't reach what's trapped inside the pore. Aquapunch can.
What to expect during the treatment
The aquapunch step is quick and straightforward. Your stylist adjusts the water pressure to suit your scalp sensitivity — the machine offers 5 pressure levels, from a gentle pulse for sensitive scalps up to a stronger flush for heavy buildup.
- Scalp prep — Your stylist sections your hair and identifies the areas with the most buildup (usually the crown, temples, and nape).
- Water pulse cleanse — The aquapunch device is moved across your scalp section by section. You'll feel a gentle pulsing sensation as the water flushes each area. It's not painful — most clients describe it as a light tapping.
- Rinse and finish — Loosened buildup is rinsed away. Your stylist continues with the rest of your service (cut, perm, colour, etc.).
Who should add Aquapunch?
Aquapunch is a scalp deep cleanse that works well for anyone, but it's especially useful if you recognise any of these patterns.
- Oily scalp — Hair looks flat or greasy within a day of washing. The water pulses flush excess sebum from the pores, giving you a cleaner starting point. If you've been looking for an oily scalp treatment in Singapore that doesn't take a full hour, this is a good fit.
- Product buildup — Daily use of dry shampoo, styling products, or leave-ins creates residue that shampoo alone can't fully remove. Aquapunch clears it out.
- Flaky or itchy scalp — Dead skin and trapped debris contribute to flaking and irritation. The deep cleanse helps clear the follicles so your scalp can breathe.
- Pre-treatment prep — Getting a scalp cleansing treatment before a perm, colour, or keratin gives the chemicals a cleaner surface to work with, which can improve results.
When to skip Aquapunch
Aquapunch is safe for most people, but your stylist will skip it if you have open wounds, cuts, or active sores on your scalp. The water pressure — even at the lowest setting — can irritate broken skin. Wait until the area has fully healed before adding it to your visit.
Aquapunch vs Scalp Treatment
We offer both Aquapunch ($48 add-on) and a full Scalp Treatment ($78 add-on / $108 standalone). They serve different purposes.
Aquapunch is a focused cleanse — it removes buildup from your pores in about 10 minutes. Think of it as a reset for your scalp. It's quick, targeted, and best for maintenance between deeper treatments.
Scalp Treatment is a comprehensive 30-minute protocol that includes camera analysis, deep cleansing shampoo, a targeted treatment solution, scalp mask, and before-and-after comparison. It addresses the underlying condition (oily, dry, sensitive, dandruff-prone) rather than just clearing buildup.
If you're unsure which to choose: start with the Scalp Treatment for your first visit so your stylist can assess your scalp condition properly. Then add Aquapunch at follow-up visits to maintain the results between full treatments.
How often should you get Aquapunch?
For most people, adding Aquapunch every 4–6 weeks — whenever you visit for a cut or other service — is enough to keep buildup in check. If you have a particularly oily scalp or use heavy styling products daily, every 3–4 weeks may be better.
In Singapore's humidity, sebum production runs higher than average. A regular scalp cleansing treatment like Aquapunch prevents the gradual pore congestion that leads to bigger issues like persistent flaking or hair thinning.
Pricing
Aquapunch is $48 as an add-on to any hair service — same price across all stylist tiers.
We also offer an Aquapunch + Scalp Ampoule bundle for $68 — your stylist deep-cleans your pores with Aquapunch, then applies a concentrated scalp ampoule to nourish the freshly cleared follicles. It's the most effective pairing because the ampoule absorbs better on a clean scalp. You can also combine Aquapunch with our full scalp treatment for the most thorough scalp session.
